What is a Giclee?
A Giclee is a Fine Art reproduction that captures every nuance of an original work of art. Giclee (zhee-clay) is a French term meaning spray of ink.
An enhanced 46 inch Iris digital printer sprays individual droplets of water based ink onto the surface of archival Arches 260 watercolor paper at the rate of 4-5 million droplets per second. Exact calculations of hue, value and density direct the ink streams, producing a combination of 512 chromatic changes with over 3 million possible colors.
Deep saturated colors retain minute detail, subtle tints and blends, accurately rendering the dozens of watercolor washes visible in the paintings of artist Michele Rosett. The artistıs input is essential in creating the final custom settings for the edition.
The advent of this new extraordinary technology has allowed artists to become their own publishers without compromising quality. A boon for both artists and collectors alike, it allows the highest quality work to be enjoyed by more art lovers and affords artists the ability to have control over the dissemination of their work.
